•    Exchange with Philip of Bourbon, Prince of Spain, and with Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil.
•    Fidel conveyed his greetings to Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuela.
•    Fidel attended the inauguration of President Lucio Gutierrez at the National Congress.
•    Meeting with Oswaldo Guayasamin’s relatives at the Alameda Plaza Hotel.
 
January 16
•    Fidel attended a working breakfast offered by Lucio Gutierrez to the personalities attending the inauguration of the Ecuadorian President.
•    Meeting with the leaders of the autochthonous populations of Ecuador:  Leonidas Iza, President of the Ecuadorian Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities; Miguel Lluco, national coordinator of Pachakutik and Ricardo Ulcuango, deputy representing this movement.
